A message to the readers from Heiner Flassbeck

Dear Readers, Friends and Colleagues,

Flassbeck-economics is in essence a political project. Our goal is to present and disseminate knowledge and insights about the central issues of our time, in particular about macroeconomic relationships that are misinterpreted by the mainstream of economics. Economics has taken to the blog format like no other discipline. Some of the biggest and most important policy arguments are now being formulated on blogs and websites rather than in academic journals. This site deals mainly with macroeconomics, sociology and political science. We deal with public policy in the broadest possible sense, wage policies, the evolution of the welfare states, the potential and prospect for economic policy. We write about other issues of crucial importance: economic theory, inequality, development, trade policies, immigration, European and American politics, energy efficiency and climate change. Articles are written by different experts, most of them associated with Makroskop.eu, a German internet magazine (see here). We all share the same goal: to provide a counterweight to the neoliberal and conservative discourse and to the dominant market approach and provide insight in much-needed rational economic and social policies.

As you can understand, this leads to substantial expenses and takes a lot of effort. We spend hundreds of hours each month writing up articles, researching, discussing and promoting content. We give lectures and interviews and engage in discussions with policy-makers. Flassbeck-economics is making a difference. People do take on board what we are saying, even far away, even in Berlin. However, we need your support. If you agree that Flassbeck-economics is a key leverage point for making the world a better place, please consider subscribing. All subscriptions go towards making Flassbeck-economics more robust and increasing its impact. A subscription gives you free access to all articles on the website. It is € 5.00 per month, € 15 per three months or € 30 per six months. Flassbeck-economics will also produce longer texts in the future. These texts will not be available on the site, but they will be sent as a PDF to all people with a subscription. This is still in the works. The first document will be about the European debt crisis.

If you consider Flassbeck-economics to be stimulating and important, please consider my request.

Thank you very much for reading.
